Vermont Sterilization Doctors List

Welcome to the list of Doctors in the State of Vermont who are willing to tie your tubes, regardless of Child Free Status, Marital Status or Family Size, - as long as you are age 21 or older!  I created this site as an expansion of the Tubal List going around on Social Media.  Here you will find Two different types of Mapping to make it easier for you to find the right doctor for YOU.

The first map is a map to where you can find the doctors office closest to you via either Zip Code or City and State.  The double arrow to the right of the find locations button is how you can switch between zip code and city and state.  You can use this map to get driving directions to your doctor's office.

The second map is where you can find the doctor's website, phone number, and most importantly, client reviews.  These two maps used together will help you to make a fully informed decision on YOUR healthcare and YOUR right to have bodily autonomy.  Click on the square button at the top left of the second map and you will be shown a list of the doctor's offices.  Click on the square at the top right of the map and you can view a larger map in a new tab.

The third map is an interactive state by state map that links to all of the other state pages here on this site.  This will help those of you who live in bordering states where the closest doctor is in another state, then you can click on the neighboring state in order to get the doctor's website, phone number, and client reviews.

I am able to keep this site completely free to use, paid for by the use of my free prescription discount card listed before the first map and also listed right after the third map.  Please save the card and share it with all of your friends.  Also please share this site with everyone you know!

I am happy to help you in your journey in getting your Tubes Tied!

Vermont Reproductive Laws

While the 2022 Dobbs decision shattered the national landscape of reproductive rights, sending shockwaves of restriction and legal chaos across the United States, the state of Vermont moved in the opposite direction. It did not simply hold the line; it built a fortress. Through a powerful combination of a voter-approved constitutional amendment and some of the nation's most robust "shield laws," Vermont has cemented its status as a definitive sanctuary for reproductive freedom, creating a legal framework that stands in stark and deliberate contrast to the wave of prohibitions sweeping much of the country.

The centerpiece of Vermont's defense is Article 22 of the state constitution, also known as the Reproductive Liberty Amendment. Ratified by an overwhelming majority of voters in November 2022, this amendment was a direct and proactive response to the anticipated fall of Roe v. Wade. Rather than relying on existing statutes, which could be altered by future legislatures, Vermont chose to enshrine the right to reproductive freedom in its foundational governing document.

The language of Article 22 is both broad and powerful: "That an individual's right to personal reproductive autonomy is central to the liberty and dignity to determine one's own life course and shall not be denied or infringed unless justified by a compelling State interest achieved by the least restrictive means." This phrasing is critical. By establishing "personal reproductive autonomy" as a fundamental right, it covers a wide spectrum of decisions, including contraception, sterilization, and abortion. Furthermore, by requiring any potential infringement to pass the "compelling State interest" test, also known as strict scrutiny, the amendment sets the highest possible legal bar for any future restrictions, making them exceedingly difficult to enact. In effect, Vermont voters have made reproductive freedom a core value of the state, protected from the shifting winds of politics.

Building on this constitutional foundation, the Vermont legislature has enacted a series of aggressive "shield laws" designed to protect not only its own citizens but also anyone who travels to the state for care, as well as the providers who serve them. Recognizing that states with abortion bans would likely attempt to extend their legal reach across borders, Vermont's shield laws create a legal firewall. The most recent iteration, signed into law in May 2025, reinforces and expands these protections.

These laws forbid state officials—from the governor to local law enforcement—from cooperating with out-of-state investigations, lawsuits, or extradition requests related to the provision of reproductive healthcare that is legal in Vermont. This means a doctor in Burlington who provides an abortion to a patient from a state with a total ban cannot be extradited to face charges in that patient's home state. The law also creates a civil cause of action, allowing providers or patients targeted by "abusive litigation" from out-of-state actors to sue for damages in Vermont's courts.

The shield laws also contain practical measures to protect privacy and expand access. One key provision allows for the names of prescribers and pharmacists to be removed from the labels of medication abortion prescriptions, shielding them from potential harassment or legal action. The state has also moved to expand access to care through telehealth, ensuring that medication abortion can be prescribed remotely, a crucial step for a rural state and for those traveling from afar.

The practical result of this legal framework is a climate of unparalleled access. In Vermont, there are no gestational limits on abortion, no mandatory waiting periods, and no parental consent or notification laws for minors seeking care. State law also mandates that private insurance plans cover abortion and related care without cost-sharing, further reducing barriers to access. This environment makes Vermont an outlier not just in the post-Roe era, but even when compared to the standards that existed under Roe v. Wade.

As a result, Vermont has become a crucial safe haven in the Northeast. While it is a small state, its robust legal protections make it a vital access point for individuals in states with new or pending restrictions. This role is one the state has consciously embraced, understanding that its policies have implications far beyond its own borders.

In conclusion, the state of reproductive rights in Vermont is not one of maintenance, but of deliberate and powerful fortification. By amending its constitution, Vermont has given the right to reproductive autonomy the strongest possible legal protection. By enacting comprehensive shield laws, it has defended its providers and patients from external legal threats. In a nation where the rights of individuals are increasingly determined by their zip code, Vermont has drawn a clear and unambiguous line, establishing itself not merely as a state where abortion is legal, but as a true bastion of reproductive liberty.
